Position Overview

The Director of Sales & Marketing will lead the strategic planning and execution of the Sales Department, drive revenue growth and consistently exceeding room night and revenue goals. This role requires a results-oriented leader with strong business acumen, prospecting skills, and the ability to recruit, motivate, and develop a high-performing team of Sales Managers. The Director will manage budgets, forecasting, marketing initiatives, and business development, ensuring alignment with Embassy Suites by Hilton brand standards, and champion a culture of excellence throughout the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce the hotel’s annual marketing plan and budget in partnership with property leadership and corporate support.
  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns and direct sales strategies to achieve business transient, group, and banquet/catering goals.
  • Conduct financial analyses to measure campaign effectiveness and optimize ROI.
  • Manage digital marketing, social media, public relations, and online content for accuracy and brand alignment.
  • Train and oversee group and event contracting processes, booking guidelines, pricing, and adherence to company policies.
  • Establish account qualification criteria, identify priority markets, and assign market coverage.
  • Execute the Sales Incentive Program and monitor team productivity.
  • Adjust sales strategies as needed to achieve targeted results.
  • Maintain and grow accounts to generate room, catering, and banquet sales.
  • Create compelling sales collateral and customer-facing packages following brand standards.
  • Oversee catering and banquet menu relevance and competitive pricing.
  • Represent the hotel at tradeshows and key market events locally and nationally.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Leaders to optimize business mix, forecasts, and pricing strategies.
  • Lead day-to-day operations of the sales team, including planning, assignments, and performance management.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop sales talent to achieve their full potential.
  • Ensure timely, professional client communication.
  • Promote teamwork through collaboration with all departments.
  • Maintain real-time competitor and market intelligence.
  • Support the company’s mission, values, and service fundamentals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Director of Sales experience in the hotel industry.
  • Proven success driving revenue growth and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong business acumen with strategic planning, forecasting, and analytical expertise.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to build strong internal and external relationships with clients, guests, and team members.
  • Advanced knowledge of sales, marketing, and hospitality practices.
  • Skilled in professional selling techniques, upselling, and Delphi, Sales Force, PEP systems.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently with strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel for sales opportunities and client engagements.
  • Creative and aggressive in closing business while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

Schedule & Salary

  • Full-time, 40+ hours per week
  • Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 annually
  • In-person role at Embassy Suites by Hilton Glendale, CA

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
