The 103 suite Home2 Suites by Hilton Port Arthur is looking for a Full Time Maintenance Engineer. The Maintenance Engineer is in charge of all maintenance items within the interior and exterior of the hotel. The position entails working both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor conditions may be affected by weather conditions ranging from rain or snow to excessive heat. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, paint, cleaners, and power machinery.

Work order requests may involve working in occupied or unoccupied guestrooms. Will be required to be “on call” for emergency repairs/maintenance after normal work hours. A key responsibility of this position is to create exceptional experiences which leave our guests feeling assured, settled in, and telling others what a wonderful experience they had while staying at the Home2 Suites by Hilton Port Arthur.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Handle guest maintenance issues, complaints, and requests and pro-actively resolves them in a manner satisfactory to both the guest and the hotel.

· Coordinate with the General Manager the supervision of the day-to-day maintenance operations, scheduling and performing repairs that include and are not limited to: plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical, heating, air conditioning, and property upkeep.

· Implement and perform the Hilton branded Preventative Maintenance Program

  • Responsible to ensure Maintenance Requests, are completed accurately, meet the property's standard, and in a timely manner.
  • Physically walk and inspect property daily to determine potential liabilities. Complete property safety inspections, maintain appropriate records and schedule necessary repairs. Respond immediately to emergency situations.
  • Assists General Manager in communications with vendors/contractors to include: bidding and approval of required work; proper completion of service agreements and certificates of insurance; scheduling work and timely completion of same.
  • Prepare orders and maintain inventory of maintenance materials, tools, supplies, and parts.
  • Document maintenance request logs accurately. Executes Daily, Weekly, and Monthly checklists timely.
  • Maintain a positive and progressive approach to hotel guest customer service.
  • Enhance customer service relations with thorough follow-up on all maintenance service requests and/or issues.

· Oversee the timely and accurate completion of all delegated tasks. Set a professional and courteous example in all hotel guest interactions.

· Maintain the guest rooms, public space, and back of the house hotel areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall covering and tiling to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel.

· Complete all tasks as designated by the General Manager. Assists in all areas of the hotel as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· An instantly recognizable and contagious passion for hospitality.

· To be part of a team maintaining high guest service scores. Guest service scores are an absolute top priority.

· Able to stand for at least 8 hours & the ability to maneuver or move up-stairs heavy equipment, appliances, supplies and tools which may weigh up to 50 pounds by him/herself, 100 pounds with someone. Must be able to walk, stand, climb, kneel, reach, crawl, push, pull and twist the majority of the day.

· Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Must possess the ability to read, comprehend, and follow simple to moderately complicated verbal and/or written instructions to perform tasks assigned and to maintain records. Must possess basic arithmetical calculation skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, etc.)

· Be able to effectively communicate with hotel guests, staff, and other suppliers / vendors professionally to ensure safe operation of property maintenance.

· Have a thorough knowledge of safety and emergency procedures and be able to execute them when necessary.

· Previous hotel or customer service experience is preferred, but not required

· Must be able to work with and secure sensitive and/or confidential material and information.

· Must be self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision, responding to and handling unfamiliar situations with little supervisory guidance.

· Strong independent judgment and decision-making skills are required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate of available guidelines and procedures, interpret precedents, and adopt standard methods or practices to meet variations in facts and/or conditions.

· Must work well under pressure and remain calm during stressful situations.

· Must possess solid organizational skills with the ability to simultaneously prioritize multiple priorities and/or projects in a fast-paced environment.

· Work with multiple deadlines, maintaining efficiency and control over projects assigned within time frames allowed and changing priorities.

· Must possess a solid knowledge of painting, electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, appliance maintenance and repair, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems, pool maintenance, and ability to use power machinery properly and safely. This level of proficiency is generally achieved with approximately two to three years of experience in two or more of the noted areas. May have specialized training and certification in HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, or carpentry.

· Be able to diagnose and repair equipment or appliances, which are not easily seen or reached, i.e., under counters, on ceilings, etc.

· Must adhere and follow all State and OSHA requirements including equipment and chemical handling safety and storage to ensure the overall safety of others.

· Must have a valid driver’s license

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
