Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in maintenance, facilities, or hotel engineering.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals/blueprints; basic computer skills.
  • CPO, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing certifications a plus.
  • Reliable attendance and availability for weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Work Schedule & Availability Requirements

This position is part of a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week hotel operation. As such, employees in this role are expected to maintain availability that supports business needs, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the requirements of the position and staffing levels. Reliable and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this role. While the Company will consider requests for accommodation related to legally protected reasons (such as medical needs, disability, or religious observance), changes to personal availability outside of those reasons cannot be guaranteed


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs and ladders, kneel, stoop, crouch, and crawl for extended periods during a shift.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Must have manual dexterity to handle tools, equipment, and materials, and to perform precision tasks such as wiring and repairs.
  • Must have adequate vision to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, equipment diagrams, and safety instructions. Vision must also be sufficient to detect hazards and ensure safety compliance.
  • Hearing and Communication: Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, over the phone, and via radio or other devices. Hearing must be adequate to detect alarms, equipment malfunctions, and other safety concerns.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.

Work Environment

  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including exposure to extreme temperatures, rain, snow, and varying noise levels.
  • Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and other potential irritants, with proper safety equipment and protective measures provided.
  • Work may involve exposure to wet or humid conditions (unrelated to weather), proximity to moving machinery, and work in elevated or potentially unstable locations.
  • Possible exposure to airborne particles, fumes, and hazardous chemicals, with appropriate training and personal protective equipment provided.
  • Role requires compliance with all safety protocols to minimize risks associated with electrical systems, power tools, and potentially hazardous equipment.
  • Must be aware of the potential for electrical shock and other workplace hazards, ensuring adherence to established procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to perform tasks outdoors in varying weather conditions and indoor spaces that may be confined or have limited access.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in the work environment and respond effectively to unexpected challenges or emergency situations.

This job description encompasses responsibilities and expectations for

  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine repairs (e.g., lighting, drywall, fixtures, paint, flooring).
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, kitchen, laundry, and mechanical systems.
  • Maintain daily pool/spa logs and chemical balance per state and city regulations (CPO certification preferred).
  • Ensure exterior upkeep (landscaping, minor asphalt/concrete work, painting, signage).
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest and staff maintenance requests.
  • Track tasks and record work orders using company systems (e.g., Quore).
  • Participate in property walks and report hazards or maintenance issues.
  • Maintain maintenance budgets and inventories; assist during Regional Engineer visits.
  • Support emergency response and be available for on-call situations.
  • Schedule Adherence: Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position. Honor front office staff work schedules and be willing and able to work any shift, including Night audit, and fill in for team members when needed and meet operational needs.
  • Follow all safety standards and maintain organized work areas.
