Hotel waitstaff are responsible for providing professional, courteous, and efficient food and beverage service to guests in hotel restaurants, banquet halls, room service, and event spaces. They ensure guests have an exceptional dining experience that reflects the hotel’s standards of hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Guest Service

  • Greet guests warmly and present menus.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders.
  • Answer questions about menu items, ingredients, and daily specials.
  • Make recommendations based on guest preferences.
  • Handle guest concerns or complaints professionally.

2. Food & Beverage Service

  • Serve food and drinks in a timely and organized manner.
  • Ensure proper table setup (linens, cutlery, glassware).
  • Check on guests during meals to ensure satisfaction.
  • Clear tables and reset for the next service.
  • Coordinate with kitchen and bar staff for smooth service.

3. Operational Duties

  • Process bills and handle payments (cash, card, room charge).
  • Follow hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dining and service areas.
  • Assist with banquet setups and special events when required.
  • Follow hotel policies and service standards.

4. Teamwork

  • Work closely with supervisors, kitchen staff, and other servers.
  • Assist colleagues during busy periods.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (hospitality training preferred).
  • Previous experience in food service or hospitality is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good grooming and professional appearance.
  • Basic math skills for handling payments.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.

Work Environment

  • Restaurants, banquet halls, lounges, and room service areas.
  • May require evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Long periods of standing and carrying trays.
