Housekeeper

Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, the Housekeeper is continuously responsible to provide a clean and safe environment for Mountain View Community in accordance with the provisions of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

1. Thoroughly clean all lobbies daily.

2. Dust and vacuum offices and other areas where rugs are used.

3. Dust and clean physical therapy area and lounge areas.

4. Clean public and employee bathrooms daily.

5. Clean resident rooms and bathrooms daily.

6. Perform assigned tasks on task list.

7. Clean utility rooms, nurses’ stations, storage rooms, tub and shower rooms, med rooms (when nurse is available to monitor), employee lounge.

8. Empty all trash containers and clean as needed.

9. Be constantly aware of your environment, ie: looking for, and attending to areas that need cleaning.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

1. Be trained and available on an as needed basis to provide backup services for Laundry and other Housekeeping needs at other County buildings.

2. Attend and participate in continuing educational programs and meetings as required.

3. Perform other similar or related duties as required or directed.

4. Be willing to perform non-Housekeeping/Laundry tasks as necessary.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the primary functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities and to possess the necessary physical requirements with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the primary functions of the job.

• Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the Mountain View Community, principles, policies and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the Commissioners, Department Heads, Elected Officials, employees, residents and the general public.
• Knowledgeable of the methods, practices, materials and equipment for housekeeping and laundry activities.
• Knowledgeable of the hazards involved and safety precautions necessary for housekeeping and laundry activities to include ability to read and understand precautions regarding chemical/fluids.
• Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and in writing.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
• Ability to read written or printed material.
• Ability to write legibly.
• Ability to push and pull supply/housekeeping/laundry carts.
• Ability to recognize an emergency situation within the context of job duties and to follow emergency medical and safety procedures.
• Ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected issues.
• Possess manual dexterity to operate equipment.
• Ability to tolerate temperatures up to 90 degrees when working in laundry.
• Ability to endure periods of heavy workload or excessive stress.
• Ability to utilize a stepladder as needed.
• Requires performing regular job functions under good conditions in a safe working environment.
• Requires stooping, sitting, standing, bending, lifting, moving intermittently and working in cramped spaces during working hours (see Physical Activity Requirements).
• May be exposed to smells, dust, dirt, fumes, etc.
• May be subject to cuts, bruises, falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc.
• May be subject to infectious diseases, substances, volatile gas, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

Duties require experience, education and/or training in general housekeeping, or any combination of education and experience, which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

WORK SCHEDULE

Shift work, including weekends.
