Housekeeping

The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors within the facility. This role supports infection prevention efforts and helps ensure compliance with health and safety standards in long-term care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect surfaces throughout the facility.

  • Empty trash and replace liners in resident rooms and common areas.

  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, handrails, and equipment.

  • Follow infection control procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals.

  • Replenish supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper.

  • Respond to housekeeping requests from nursing staff and residents.

  • Follow facility safety policies and proper waste disposal procedures.

  • Assist with terminal cleaning of rooms after resident discharge or transfer.

  • Maintain housekeeping carts and equipment in a clean and organized condition.

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Previous housekeeping experience in healthcare, long-term care, or hospitality preferred.

  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and infection control practices.

  • Ability to follow safety procedures and facility policies.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
