HOUSEKEEPING ASSISTANT

Job Summary:

The OT Housekeeping Assistant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and aseptic conditions in the Operation Theatre and adjoining areas in accordance with hospital infection control standards. The role ensures smooth flow of surgical procedures by preparing OT rooms, assisting with sterilization processes, and maintaining OT equipment and supplies in proper order.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operation Theatre Cleaning & Maintenance
• Clean and sanitize OT rooms before and after each surgical procedure.
• Ensure floors, walls, lights, tables, and equipment are disinfected as per OT cleaning protocols.
• Maintain sterile environment and follow aseptic techniques strictly.
• Instrument & Equipment Handling
• Assist in cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments under guidance of OT Nurse/Technician.
• Ensure proper storage of sterilized instruments and materials.
• Support in arranging surgical instruments and supplies before surgery.
• Waste Management
• Dispose of biomedical waste as per hospital and government guidelines.
• Segregate waste in color-coded bins correctly.
• Maintain cleanliness in all waste disposal areas.
• Support in OT Procedures
• Assist in patient shifting to and from OT (if required).
• Help OT staff in preparing surgical trays, linen, and related OT materials.
• Inventory & Supplies
• Monitor daily stock of cleaning materials, disinfectants, mops, and OT housekeeping consumables.
• Report shortage of supplies to OT In-charge on time.
• Infection Control Compliance
• Follow all infection control protocols to prevent contamination and hospital-acquired infections.
• Participate in ongoing training on cleaning techniques and safety practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Minimum 10th Pass or equivalent.
• Prior experience in hospital or OT housekeeping preferred (especially in ophthalmology setup).
• Basic understanding of hygiene, sterilization, and disinfecting procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a disciplined environment.
• Physically fit, punctual, and responsible.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Work Conditions:

• Standing for long durations may be required.
• Strict adherence to uniform and grooming standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
