JOB TITLE: Housekeeping Houseperson
REPORTS TO: Director of Housekeeping, Housekeeping Supervisor
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:
Operations – 75%
Empties all trash receptacles and ashtrays in corridors and public areas.
Cleans all outside area walkways; sweeps stairways and landings; cleans railings and washes all EXIT doors.
Spot checks elevators, tracks, chrome, and stainless steel.
Spot-cleans walls and doors; removes cobwebs; cleans fire extinguishers.
Wipes baseboards, railings, phones, walls, ice machines, pictures and wall sconces.
Collects soiled linen from room attendant’s carts and delivers to area assigned.
Vacuums all inside corridors at least twice a week.
Assists in stripping rooms with linen and trash when necessary, as requested by Housekeeper/Manager.
Deliver cribs and roll-away beds and other guest request items to guest rooms.
Removes trash periodically from all closets and public area and hallway trash cans.
Updates Room Attendant/Housekeeper with necessary information.
Special Projects – 20%
Washes windows as requested.
Move furniture and mattresses as requested.
Hallway carpet shampooing twice a year and guest rooms once a year.
Upon pet room departures, strip all linen and sort for dry cleaning and steam cleaning carpet and upholstery.
Inventory/Delivery – 5%
Assists in keeping all storage areas and linen rooms clean, stocked and organized. Assists Housekeeping in accepting deliveries, checking supplies, opening cartons, and placing supplies neatly on shelves.
Does monthly supply inventory and also reports any shortages in advance to manager.
Deliver fresh/clean linen and other guest room supplies to all closets throughout the day.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Physical Demands: Requires walking and standing for entire shift. Requires ability to perform light to moderate physical labor: Lifting (heavy items such as mattresses, furniture), reaching, bending, stretching, handling. Ability to move throughout the property using service elevators and stairways.
Environmental Conditions: This role is primarily indoors, with protection from weather conditions (75%) but not necessarily from temperature changes. Outside labor is required (25%).
Essential Skills: Knowledge of applicable franchise standards and procedures. Ability to maintain schedule of cleaning. Ability to arrive at work on time for scheduled shift and perform physical labor. Preferred candidate will have previous housekeeping experience in a luxury, boutique-hotel setting.
Education/Vocational Preparation: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
