Housekeeping Supervisor

SUMMARY

Supervises, trains, and inspects performance of all housekeeping staff. Ensures that all assignments are completed according to the standards set by the Inn. Has the ability to perform all line level staff duties as necessary including Room Attendant, Laundry Attendant and Houseperson to ensure efficient completion of daily housekeeping tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares and distributes room assignments, making changes as required during their shift.
  • Inspects and approves cleaning of guest rooms, linen closets, and public areas on floor.
  • Inspects and approves the upkeep of public areas throughout the property.
  • Works closely with other Supervisors and Housekeeping Manager to monitor the work of housekeeping staff, ensuring facilities are kept clean and tidy.
  • Follows up on correction and directly contacts employees to relay any deficiencies to be corrected in an efficient and productive way.
  • Checks housekeeping and laundry equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and are in compliance with the Inn's safety policies.
  • Contacts the Engineering Department as needed and completes work orders using the resort’s software system.
  • Accommodates and follows up on guest requests for housekeeping related items, including their delivery and return.
  • Coordinates with the Front Desk to accommodate guest requests, including but not limited to: early check-in requests, late checkouts, and priority rooms.
  • Provides feedback on staff performance to Housekeeping Manager and assists with training for the department.
  • Monitors and resolves guest complaints by handling the situation according to the Inn's service standards.
  • Updates and verifies room status in property PMS.
  • Follows all Inn and department standards and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Attends department meetings and participates in Supervisory training sessions as necessary.
  • Completes department projects as assigned
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by Housekeeping Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

· Minimum of three (3) years of housekeeping experience required.

· Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Housekeeping Specific Certifications such as Certified Environmental Housekeeper (CEH) or Certified Housekeeping Supervisor (CHS) preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with staff and guests.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to complete basic arithmetic related to inventory, measuring, and scheduling.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, lifting and carrying up to forty pounds (40lbs)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The Spa at Norwich Inn is a year-round resort; work conditions may vary daily.
  • Most duties are performed indoors; however, occasional outdoor work may be required.
