Responsibilities
- Assess clients’ housing needs and develop personalized service plans aligned with their goals and circumstances
- Assist clients in navigating housing programs such as Section 8 (Housing Choice Voucher Program) and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) properties
- Advocate on behalf of clients during negotiations with landlords and property managers to secure affordable and stable housing options
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution support, utilizing motivational interviewing techniques to motivate positive change
- Educate clients on Fair Housing regulations, landlord-tenant law, and tenants’ rights to ensure informed decision-making
- Maintain accurate records using property management software such as Yardi or OneSite, tracking client progress and compliance
- Collaborate with social service agencies, addiction counseling programs, and mental health providers to coordinate holistic support services
Skills
- Strong knowledge of LIHTC, Section 8, landlord-tenant law, and Fair Housing regulations
- Excellent negotiation skills to advocate effectively for clients with landlords and property owners
- Proven ability in crisis intervention and crisis management to support clients facing urgent housing or personal issues
- Effective social work practices including motivational interviewing and addiction counseling techniques
- Familiarity with Section 8 housing programs and related federal/state regulations
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, professionalism, and confidentiality
