Join our dynamic legal team as a Housing Paralegal, where you will play a vital role in supporting housing-related legal matters and ensuring efficient case management. As a Housing Paralegal, you will be instrumental in conducting legal research, managing documentation, and assisting attorneys with case preparation. <Responsibilities>
- Conduct comprehensive legal research across areas such as landlord-tenant law, fair housing regulations, and tribal law & regulations to support case development.
- Assist attorneys with drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, contracts, and correspondence related to housing law cases.
- Manage case files using document management systems like iManage and PCLaw, ensuring all records are accurate, organized, and up-to-date.
- Review and analyze legal documents such as leases, eviction notices, and property records to identify relevant information for ongoing cases.
- Perform client interviews and gather pertinent information through interviewing techniques to support case strategy.
- Support litigation processes by preparing discovery materials, reviewing evidence, and coordinating with external agencies or courts.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, agencies, and internal teams via phone etiquette and professional correspondence to facilitate case progress.
<Skills>
- Strong knowledge of housing law including landlord-tenant law and fair housing regulations.
- Experience with legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis to gather relevant case law and statutory information.
- Proficiency in legal case management software including iManage and PCLaw for document review and data entry.
- Familiarity with environmental law, tribal law & regulations, securities law, patent law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, immigration law, estate planning, UCC law, family law, litigation procedures, and contracts is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Effective writing skills for drafting legal documents and proofreading for accuracy.
- Experience in conducting legal research and supporting litigation efforts through document review and transcription.
- Strong clerical experience including filing, data entry, administrative support, and maintaining filing systems.
- Exceptional organizational skills combined with professional phone etiquette to ensure clear communication across all parties involved.
