Housing Support Specialist (D.L. Required)

Oak Grove is a small company located in Minneapolis. We serve a population of mentally ill residents in a long term care setting. Oak Grove is licensed as an Assisted Living through the state of Minnesota. Our goal is to help residents maintain stability and independence in a supportive living setting. Residents of Oak Grove have their own apartments and do not have roommates. We have a community dining room where residents can socialize and engage with other residents and staff.

Housing Support Specialists are direct care providers. Our clients are adults with Serious and Persistent mental illness (SPMI) such as depression, mood disorders, and schizophrenia. Some of them also have medical conditions. Oak Grove is a permanent supportive housing program with many of our residents having lived here for a number of years. Housing Support Specialists provide shift coverage and individualized services to Oak Grove's residents. Housing support specialists are expected to demonstrate professional boundaries with residents, as well as set examples for appropriate conduct in social settings. Staff should be flexible and adaptable to ever changing priorities and be able to work in teams.

Current available shifts:

• Morning Shifts-Typically 7:45am-4:15pm or 9am- 5:30pm
• Weekday and Weekend availability
• Evening Shifts-(3:45pm-12:15am)
• Currently hiring for part time employment. Approximately 16-24 hours per week. Shifts subject to availability.
• Occasional other shifts available to pick up.

Duties Include:

Complete regularly scheduled services to residents:

• Medication Administration
• Transporting residents to appointments and errands
• Housekeeping- assisting residents with maintaining clean and safe environments in their apartments.
• Assistance with Activities of Daily Living
• Socialization- both one-on-one and groups.
• Activities- in-house and in the community
• Documentation of services and interactions

Unscheduled Services:

• One-on-one interaction to assist with problem solving
• Crisis Prevention/Intervention
• Accompany a resident to urgent care or other similar unscheduled appointments in case of emergency
• Work with clients who are experiencing anxiety or distress

New hires will receive paid training on everything noted above. We DO NOT do hands on bathing or lifting.
