HP Unit Manager

HP Livestock is looking for a Grass Farm Manager for a backgrounding /yearling cattle operation

located in Burlington, Wyoming. HP Livestock has three locations, two outside of Cody, Wy and

one in Burlington, Wy. The position will be responsible for supporting a large-scale irrigated

pasture/mountain grazing cattle operation with focus on growing forage and

operating/maintaining all associated ranch equipment/infrastructure. The position will also be

responsible for managing a large herd of yearlings on grass for the summer months using

regenerative principles. Experience with heavy equipment, pivot operation, and cattle is a

strong plus. We strive to practice holistic management. If you have an interest in these

principles, that would be a plus. Anyone with a strong interest or passion in ranching/farming is

encouraged to apply. We are more than willing to train an interested and able person.

Livestock is a rapidly growing ranch operation looking for an individual who is willing and eager

to learn, hard-working, handy, safety-oriented, and a self-starter. This individual should be able

to take initiative as part of a fast-growing operation. Our operation draws on progressive soil,

grass, and cattle management principles from Bud Williams, Jim Gerrish, Gabe Brown and

others to optimize performance. We are looking for an individual who is focused on excellence

and constant improvement in irrigation, equipment, cattle management and soil

building.

Housing provided (utility costs paid by ranch). Housing can easily accommodate

single or married persons.

This is a full-time position.




JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: manage a crew of up to 4 people. Operate and maintain

irrigation systems *help Build new irrigation infrastructure

* Maintain electric fence

system. (The operation has a five-strand barbed wire perimeter fence but has a network of

permanent electric fences that run throughout interior of the ranch.) Operate heavy

equipment for infrastructure improvement projects. Infrastructure projects include, but are not

limited to, property fencing, stock water development pipelines, ponds, land clearing and pivot

irrigation installation Optimize forage production on the farm by planting/establishing new

stands of warm/cool season perineal and annual forages that will be harvested by cattle. (This

is not an operation focused on traditional crop production, but we do plant some forage crops

to be grazed.) Work as part of a team to background and feed cattle in a small-scale

feedlot *Manage the winter time feed delivery to cattle with feed trucks

* Provide

ideas/concepts and collaborate with owner for efficient backgrounding of cattle feeding

operation Perform all aspects of hauling in feed commodities including hay, straw, and corn

silage as well as keep track of feed inventory. (We do not put up any of our own feed. We

purchase all commodities from local farms) oversee all heavy equipment operation

including loader, tractor, feed trucks, seed drill, semi-truck and various other equipment



Carry out welding, corral building and maintenance projects



REQUIREMENTS: *Valid Drivers License

* Equipment operating ability (Feed truck, Skid

steer, Loader, Excavator, Dozer) or willingness to learn Welding/fabrication experience is a

very strong plus. *Cattle experience a strong plus.

* Must be willing to learn new soil

management techniques and associated irrigation practices. Able to move/lift/maneuver up

to 50 lbs.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $60,586.31 per year
