Position Title: HR Administrator
Location: Paterson, NJ
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: HR Manager

Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented HR Administrator to support our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in HR administrative functions as well as hands-on experience with prevailing wage requirements, payroll coordination, and HR best practices. This role is critical in maintaining compliance, supporting employees, and ensuring smooth day-to-day HR operations.

Key Responsibilities

HR Administration

  • Maintain and update employee records, personnel files, and HR databases.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire paperwork, orientations, and exit documentation.
  • Support benefits administration, enrollments, changes, and employee inquiries.
  • Track PTO leaves of absence, and other attendance-related matters.

Payroll & Prevailing Wage

  • Prepare and process payroll documentation in coordination with the payroll team.
  • Ensure payroll data is accurate, timely, and aligned with company policies.
  • Manage certified payroll reporting and compliance for prevailing wage projects.
  • Maintain proper documentation related to wage determinations, classifications, and certified payroll submissions.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and local labor laws impacting payroll and prevailing wage.

Compliance & HR Operations

  • Support compliance with company policies, employment laws, and HR regulations.
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and record retention requirements.
  • Help maintain updated HR procedures, forms, and internal guidelines.
  • Coordinate safety trainings, HR communications, and employee relations initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • 2–4 years of experience in HR administration, payroll, or related functions.
  • Knowledge of prevailing wage requirements, certified payroll reporting, and labor compliance.
  • Strong understanding of general HR practices, including employee records, recruiting, onboarding, and compliance.
  • High attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, payroll systems, and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Preferred

  • Experience in construction, government contracting, or other prevailing wage–regulated industries.

Compensation

Salary: $23 - $27 per hour (depending on experience)

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
