What You’ll Be Doing (Position Summary):
The HR Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that all HR activities within CIBC India are compliant with local laws, regulations, and CIBC enterprise policies. This role manages HR governance, records management, statutory filings, payroll compliance, and supports the Head of HR India in regulatory matters, audits, and anti-discrimination programs. The HR Compliance Officer plays a key part in safeguarding CIBC India’s legal and regulatory standing while enabling effective HR service delivery. The HR Compliance Officer is expected to proactively identify compliance risks and recommend solutions and will play an active role in supporting the evolution of the HR function as CIBC India grows.

How You’ll Succeed (Responsibilities):

Manage CIBC India HR compliance frameworks, governance, and controls.

Ensure compliance with all applicable local laws, regulations, statutory filings, and record-keeping requirements.

Maintain local HR policies, procedures, and documentation aligned with enterprise standards and local legal requirements.

Complete local payroll reviews and checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.

Oversee physical and digital employee record retention and maintenance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping practices for HR activities, audits, and inspections.

Support the Head of HR, CIBC India during HR audits, regulatory inspections, and preparation of responses to labor authorities.

Assist in the implementation and maintenance of anti-discrimination programs and associated reporting.

Support the Head of HR, CIBC India in their Liaison Officer duties under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act by maintaining appropriate records and compliance documentation.

Provide support to the Head of HR, CIBC India on regulatory risk and compliance matters related to HR.

Monitor changes in local labor laws and regulations, ensuring timely updates and compliance across HR practices.

Partner with Head of HR, CIBC India, Senior HR Business Partner, and other HR leaders to ensure compliance is embedded in all HR processes and initiatives.

Advise HR and business leaders on compliance requirements and best practices.

Proven experience in HR compliance, HR operations, or a related HR governance role, preferably in a multinational or GCC environment.

Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws, employment regulations, and statutory compliance requirements.

Experience in records management, payroll oversight and compliance, and HR audits.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.

Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
