HR Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist serves as the primary on-site HR partner responsible for ensuring compliance with California employment law and supporting day-to-day HR operations in a manufacturing environment.

This role provides guidance to leaders, manages employee relations matters, conducts investigations, and ensures policy compliance. The HR Generalist works closely with the CHRO on significant employment matters and strategic decisions, maintaining strong communication and alignment on all major HR actions.

This position requires strong working knowledge of California labor law and hands-on experience with UKG Ready.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

California Employment Law Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with California wage and hour laws, meal and rest break requirements, and overtime regulations
  • Administer and manage leaves of absence (CFRA, FMLA, PDL, ADA interactive process)
  • Maintain required postings and regulatory compliance documentation
  • Monitor changes in California employment law and recommend policy updates
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the employee handbook

Employee Relations & Investigations

  • Serve as first point of contact for employee concerns
  • Conduct workplace investigations (harassment, discrimination, policy violations)
  • Provide recommendations to leadership while partnering with the CHRO before final decisions on significant employment actions
  • Guide supervisors on corrective action and performance documentation

Performance Management & Policy Administration

  • Guide supervisors on performance documentation and corrective action
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Maintain accurate employee files and records

HRIS Administration – UKG Ready

  • Serve as primary administrator for UKG Ready
  • Manage employee data, workflows, and reporting
  • Maintain timekeeping oversight to ensure compliance (meal/rest break monitoring)
  • Generate workforce metrics and reports for leadership

Benefits Administration

  • Administer benefits enrollment, changes, and open enrollment
  • Coordinate with brokers and vendors

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 4–6 years of progressive HR experience in California
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment law
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations
  • Experience supporting manufacturing environments
  • Recent hands-on experience with UKG Ready (required)
  • Strong documentation and risk assessment skills

Preferred:

  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification
  • Experience in companies with 50+ employees

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
