HR Generalist

Position Summary

Blue Ridge Care is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and service-driven Human Resources Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations and enhance the employee experience across the organization. This role plays a key part in onboarding, employee engagement, retention efforts, and maintaining accurate employee records and credentials.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the HR Generalist serves as a trusted resource to employees and leaders while supporting HR processes, documentation, and program execution. This is a hands-on role focused on supporting employees after hire, strengthening engagement initiatives, ensuring compliance with credentialing requirements, and maintaining the integrity of HR systems and records.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and passionate about supporting a positive and compliant workplace environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Orientation, Employee Support & Retention

  • Coordinate and facilitate new employee orientation

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees following onboarding

  • Conduct follow-up touchpoints to support engagement and retention

  • Assist in identifying trends and escalating retention concerns

Employee Engagement & Appreciation

  • Facilitate the Employee Appreciation Committee year-round

  • Plan and execute employee recognition initiatives

  • Track participation, engagement, and feedback

HR Records, Credentials & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential personnel files

  • Track and manage licenses, certifications, and credentials for clinical staff

  • Support employee evaluations and performance review tracking

  • Prepare monthly OIG exclusion and NPDB reports

  • Ensure audit readiness related to HR documentation and compliance

Policy, Recruitment & Administrative Support

  • Support implementation and maintenance of HR policies and programs

  • Maintain policies and procedures within the Relias system

  • Provide pre-screen interview support as needed

  • Order and maintain HR office supplies

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years of HR experience required

  • Knowledge of benefits administration and state/federal employment regulations

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems

  • Experience managing and reconciling large volumes of data with accuracy

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • High level of discretion and confidentiality required

  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation; ability to travel throughout the service area

Physical & Cognitive Requirements

  • Strong listening skills and emotional sensitivity, particularly related to serious illness and end-of-life care

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions

  • Capacity to concentrate on detailed work for extended periods

  • Ability to understand and apply complex concepts

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

  • Occasional travel, lifting, and transport of materials and equipment
