SUMMARY The Human Resources Generalist provides day-to-day on-site HR support across employee relations, onboarding, recruiting, compliance. This role combines strong accountability, particularly in onboarding, and employee support—with foundational HR Business function capabilities, serving as a trusted resource to managers and employees
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND DUTIES
Onboarding

Facilitates all stages of the onboarding process from offer acceptance through completion of all onboarding stages and types including ATS, walk-in manual application. Ensures a seamless, compliant, and positive new-hire experience.

Partner with managers to support timely, accurate, onboarding.

Administer HRIS and ATS end to end related to onboarding, pre-employment and employee record setup.

Serve as the primary point of contact for new hires throughout the onboarding process, addressing questions and communicating with hiring managers

Coordinate and facilitate new-hire orientations as needed.
Talent Acquisition

Manage recruiting for assigned openings, including posting jobs, reviewing applications, assist managers to create job descriptions and review website career pages

Support and participate in local hiring events (job fairs, on-site hiring days, etc.)
- Source candidates through job boards, referrals, community partners, and recruitment firms to ensure a steady flow of qualified applicants.

Ensure timely and accurate communication with hiring managers
Employee Relations & Manager Support

Serve as additional point of contact for employee relations matters responding to questions and issues in a timely, professional, and confidential manner and communicates all issues under the direction of the HR Director.

Maintains required documentation, and escalating issues and trends to HR Director in accordance with established protocols.

Assists with conducting workplace investigations and maintain supporting documentation in accordance with established HR, legal, and compliance standards.

Assists HR Director on complex, sensitive, or high-risk employee relations matters requiring escalation or additional oversight.

Support management by attending and translating mediations, and matters that pertain to progressing discipline and provides timely documentation to the HR Director and Manager(s)

Stays up to date with HR policies and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
Training, Compliance & Organizational Support

Ensures training requirements are met for each department and monitors learning and development within the HRIS
- Monitor training completion and follow up on overdue or missing requirements.

Assist with compliance initiatives related to postings, documentation, and regulatory readiness.

Attends webinars, and in-person training for up to date with employment law
Payroll Assistance

Review timekeeping data; resolve discrepancies with supervisors.

Assist Manager with timekeeping if requested

Report benefit deductions, garnishments, and leaves of absence to the HR Director and Payroll Administrator.

Support payroll audits, reporting, and process improvements.

Assist with position, rate of pay, allocation and location changes
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
Benefits, Leave, Training & Compliance

Administer benefits enrollments, changes, Open Enrollment support, and invoice reconciliation.

Manage requests for FMLA, Connecticut Paid Leave, and other types of leaves and communicates with employee and manager

Manage administration or Worker's Compensation
Safety & Compliance

Partner with the HR Director, and department leadership to support safety initiatives, audits, and corrective action plans, ensuring follow-through and timely documentation.

Provide guidance to managers on safety protocols, and proper incident reporting, escalating concerns as needed.

Ensure compliance across HR practices, including required postings, certifications, personnel files, training records, and record-keeping standards.
General Support

Utilize HR metrics and analytics to inform decision making and measure effectiveness.

Assists the HR Director with reports and presentations on key HR initiatives and outcomes.

Support the HR Director with special projects and initiatives
- Take on additional responsibilities or interim assignments as business needs evolve.
Schedule:
This is a full-time position. The schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, 8 am – 4 pm with the occasional adjustment for project or operational needs.
Required Qualifications

Bilingual proficiency in Spanish verbal and written.

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a relevant field, or 3-5 years of progressing HR experience, demonstrating solid responsibility of all HR functions

Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, maintaining the highest levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Working knowledge of FLSA regulations, wage and hour requirements, with the ability to apply regulations consistently and effectively.

Strong organizational and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to prioritize, manage competing priorities, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish, with the ability to interact professionally with both office-based and production employees.

Intermediate proficiency in Excel, Word, Teams

Proficiency with, or the ability to quickly learn, HRIS and talent management systems.

Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation

Ability to occasionally travel to job fairs and/or additional job locations
Preferred Qualifications

HR experience within the Hospitality Industry

Experience using Mac Computers and PAYCOM
-
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required

HR certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) preferred but not required
