Human Resources Generalist | Charlotte, NC

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day operations that support a specific division within the ABV family of brands, including but not limited to manufacturing, operations, retail/hospitality, and sales. The Generalist serves to support policies and procedures, recruiting, on-boarding, and retention through employee engagement. A successful HR Generalist also provides excellent customer service, remains relevant on HR compliance and trends.

Reports to: VP of Human Resources

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Drive company values (pillars) through partnership, support, and engagement with staff.

  • Set up, maintain, and track all open positions via the HRIS recruiting portal.

  • Facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

  • Assist in scheduling phone and in person interviews with the hiring managers; scheduling and facilitating recruitment check-in meetings.

  • Perform initial phone screens and participate in interviewing process as necessary; conducting reference checks for qualified candidates prior to offer.

  • Manage a successful on-boarding process, providing a world-class introduction to the company and ensuring all partnerships are in place.

  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

  • Handle all administrative tasks pertaining to status changes, promotions, separations, including entering data into HR information systems and auditing for accuracy and compliance.

  • Support in delivering timely communication throughout the year for company announcements, annual notifications, annual enrollments, and employee engagement.

  • Develop strong partnerships with management and provide expert consultation on policies and procedures.

  • Provide timekeeping support to management and payroll by providing relevant employee information.

  • Manage unemployment claims.

  • Support HR Manager with developing and delivering training.

  • Ensure compliance and reporting with all federal, state, and local employment laws.

  • Identify and assess metrics and reporting to ensure compliance and consistent practices within department.

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form.

  • Manage information of a sensitive nature and always maintain discretion and confidentiality.

  • Provide World-Class Generalist support to the designated employee groups.

  • Liaison benefits and wellness campaigns to the employee population.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Human Resources, related field, or the equivalent years of experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in Human Resources

  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred

  • Intermediate Microsoft Suite skills

  • Workday CRM experience highly preferred

  • Experience within retail/hospitality highly preferred

Supervisory Responsibility


This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Physical Demands


This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work


This is a full-time position. Workdays are typically Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Travel


Travel is expected to be about 10-15% of the time to support and be present to employees.
