The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Generalist for a temporary assignment. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), this role will provide both high-level administrative support to the CHRO and hands-on HR Generalist support to the department, with a particular focus on recruitment, HR operations, compliance, and special projects.
This position requires a professional who can balance executive support responsibilities with core HR functions, exercise sound judgment, maintain strict confidentiality, and can manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in an Executive Assistant or administrative support role is strongly preferred.

Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for assigned positions, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and coordinating hiring activities.

Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, develop recruitment strategies, and ensure a positive candidate experience.

Conduct reference checks, background screenings, and pre-employment activities.

Maintain HRIS data integrity and assist with employee data audits, reporting, and record management.

Conduct research, benchmarking, and analysis to support policy development and other HR initiatives.

Provide direct administrative support to the CHRO, including calendar coordination, meeting scheduling, preparation of materials, and follow-up on key priorities.

Draft correspondence, reports, presentations, and other documents in support of the CHRO and HR department.

Coordinate logistics for HR meetings, interviews, and departmental initiatives.

Track deadlines, action items, and deliverables for the CHRO and HR team.

Support the CHRO with special projects, reporting, meeting coordination, and operational activities that advance departmental and organizational priorities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.

Minimum of 5 years of direct progressive HR generalist experience required.

Prior experience providing executive-level administrative support, preferably in an Executive Assistant or Administrative Support role, strongly preferred.

Demonstrated experience supporting senior leadership while also managing HR responsibilities preferred.

Experience supporting recruitment, HR operations, compliance, and HR project management required.

Experience supporting HRIS administration, reporting, data integrity, and recruiting processes within ADP Workforce Now preferred.

Experience working in an association, nonprofit, or professional services environment preferred.

SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.

A 3 month temporary position

Hybrid work environment based in Washington, DC, with an expectation of working onsite three days per week and remotely two days per week.
