HR Manager (Startup Transformation)

About the Role

Pushnami, Austin's leading push notification platform, is seeking a Head of People to lead our transformation from corporate processes back to startup agility. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll own all people operations for our 28-person team as we scale strategically using AI and automation.

This isn't a traditional HR role. We're dismantling bureaucracy and building something better - lightweight systems that actually work, AI-powered processes that eliminate busywork, and a performance culture focused on results over politics.

Key Responsibilities

• Own all HR operations including payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee relations
• Replace our previous intensive review system with a streamlined performance framework by January 2026
• Conduct monthly 1:1s with all employees, building genuine connections and gathering insights
• Lead recruiting efforts to immediately fill 2-3 critical roles using modern talent acquisition methods
• Integrate AI and automation tools to eliminate repetitive HR tasks
• Support our new Austin office buildout while maintaining flexible hybrid culture
• Develop emerging leaders through coaching and practical experience

What You Bring

• 2-5 years of hands-on HR/People experience (not general operations)
• Experience with HRIS platforms like Gusto, BambooHR, or similar
• Track record of simplifying complex processes while improving outcomes
• Comfort building from scratch in ambiguous environments
• Bachelor's degree required
• Must be based in Austin with ability to work in-office weekly

Compensation & Benefits

• $95,000-$115,000 base salary
• Quarterly performance bonus (10-15% target)
