HR Manager/Generalist

HRT Northwest is a stable, boutique Human Resources service provider that works with client companies to direct, oversee and manage their HR function. We are seeking an experienced HR professional to join our growing team!

Job Overview
In this role, you will work with our team of HR Consultants to provide effective, high quality HR solutions and support to our clients. This includes, but is not limited to, employee relations, manager coaching, performance management, compliance, policy development, compensation & benefits, recruitment, and leaves of absence. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and possess a solid HR Generalist background, consultative approach, and sense of humor!

As a boutique firm, we are highly responsive to our clients' evolving needs. While much of our work is done from home, the ability to show up in person for our clients is a core part of our high-touch service model.

Hours

Hours will vary, roughly 10-20 hours/week (hours are flexible; must be available Monday-Friday). There is the potential for hours to increase over time (but not a guarantee).

Work Location

This role is remote. Candidates must reside in the greater Puget Sound area (Seattle/Bellevue/Tacoma preferred) and be available for occasional visits to client sites (primarily regional, with occasional out-of-state travel possible depending on client needs).

Responsibilities include

  • Collaborate with HRT colleagues to understand client needs and provide direct advising and support to client managers and employees.
  • Create or modify job descriptions, forms, processes (e.g. onboarding and offboarding) and policies, including employee handbooks.
  • Provide guidance and coaching in areas such as employee relations, terminations, performance management, wage and hour compliance, reasonable accommodation, etc.
  • Manage the end-to-end process for leaves of absence (FMLA/WA PFML) including creation of leave notices and advising/managing complex leave of absence compliance.
  • Facilitate and advise on the ADA interactive process.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients to ensure smooth communication and effective HR service delivery.
  • Stay abreast of changing HR-related compliance requirements.
  • Perform and/or collaborate on HR related management training (including slide/content development and conducting training)
  • Perform administrative and tactical HR support as dictated by specific client Scopes of Work (SOWs), ensuring high data integrity and secure file management. This may include:
  • Assisting or managing recruitment efforts (screening resumes, conducting phone screens, arranging interviews, performing reference checks, drafting offer letters).
  • Administering HR compliance programs (EEO-1 filings, OSHA logs and reporting, I-9/E-Verify compliance, etc.).
  • Advising and/or processing unemployment and workers’ compensation claims on behalf of specific clients.
  • Contribute to the internal HRT Northwest knowledge base by sharing best practices, research, and templates with colleagues to support our collective growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 3 years of true HR Generalist experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to work with a wide range of client temperaments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional organization, and ability to handle data with confidentiality.
  • Possess terrific follow-up skills with clients and colleagues, to ensure HR needs are met and tasks are completed.
  • Able to successfully work independently in a remote environment.
  • Flexibility to visit client sites as business demands dictate.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of WA state and federal employment laws and solid researching skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with HR software and technology solutions.
  • HRCI and/or SHRM certification.

Pay: $50.00 - $70.00 per hour
