First State Community Bank is seeking a personable and articulate candidate to fill the role of HR Payroll Assistant. The HR Payroll Assistant position will be responsible for a performing a variety of administrative tasks in support of the Human Resources Operations team while assisting with duties and tasks associated with payroll.

Responsibilities in Accordance with Our Corporate Values

Professionalism

  • Works closely with Payroll Specialist to ensure employees’ time records are reflected accurately prior to processing
  • Assist with employee communications and tracking in the areas of PTO (Paid Time Off) and FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act)

Accountability

  • Handles basic employee questions related to payroll and refers more complex issues to the Payroll Specialist
  • Provides support to Payroll Specialist in other areas such as reporting responsibilities, payroll general ledger uploads, new hire permissions, CD fund pricing and 401k funding

Initiative

  • Serves as backup for payroll processing when Payroll Specialist is unavailable
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining all Human Resources Operations records in an electronic format through Synergy

Adaptability

  • Actively participates in other Human Resources Operations team functions including, but not limited to, First State Merch store administration and other employee engagement activities

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of administrative skills required; willing to provide training for basic payroll skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; concentrated focus in Excel
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Good analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and establish, understand, and follow work procedures
  • Ability to follow-up on outstanding items on a timely basis while adhering to deadlines
  • Must be strong team player
