Pember Companies Inc is looking to hire an HR & Safety Manager to work out of our Menomonie, WI location. This position will oversee the Company's policies, procedures, and programs, including recruitment, compensation, benefits, training, and employee relations. Ensuring legal compliance with employment laws and aligning human resources strategies with the company's overall objectives and goals.

We are a construction company that specializes in road, municipality, utility, and building site work. Projects range from small residential work to larger full-season municipality projects. Key responsibilities

  • Recruitment and hiring: Manage the entire talent acquisition process, from sourcing and interviewing to onboarding new employees.
  • Compensation and benefits: Collaborate on employee compensation and benefits packages to ensure they are competitive and cost-effective.
  • Employee relations: Handle employee grievances, manage conflict resolution, and develop engagement and retention strategies.
  • Training and development: Implement learning and development programs to help employees grow and to ensure the organization has a skilled workforce. Administer Apprenticeship programs and certifications.
  • Compliance: Ensure the company adheres to policies including all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Includes WI, MN, and Davis Bacon.
  • Strategic planning: Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company's business goals and objectives.
  • Promote a safety culture: Advocate for a positive safety culture by leading initiatives that encourage active employee participation and accountability.
  • Manage safety resources: Oversee the selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety-related tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate across departments: Work closely with management, supervisors, and other departments to integrate safety practices into daily operations.
  • Develop and implement safety programs: Create, implement, and monitor company-wide safety policies, procedures, and initiatives according to legal guidelines and internal standards.
  • Conduct inspections and audits: Perform regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards, evaluate compliance, and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
  • Provide training: Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for all employees, covering accident prevention, emergency response, and correct handling of equipment and materials.
  • Investigate incidents: Lead or assist in the investigation of all workplace accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure compliance and reporting: Stay up-to-date on all relevant safety regulations (e.g., OSHA) and industry standards. Maintain accurate records of all safety activities, incidents, and reports for management and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications and skills

  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • A significant amount of relevant work experience required.

  • Proven problem-solving, conflict resolution and analytical skills
  • Extremely detail orientated and organized

Pay will be based on experience and skills, not limited to the range of $65,000 to $75,000.
