HSE Specialist

Role Overview

This role focuses on three key responsibilities: HSE (Health, Safety & Environment), Facility Management and Loss Prevention, partnering with warehouse and logistics operations teams to execute company policies and ensure compliance with local and regional regulations. The HSE Specialist leads continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risk and ensures a safe and healthy working environment for Associates and Operators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build the entire HSE framework, policies, and procedures from scratch for warehouse and logistics operations.
  • Develop and implement all HSE policies, SOPs, checklists, and compliance systems aligned with UAE regulations and international best practices.
  • Design the end to end HSE governance structure, reporting systems, and audit mechanisms.
  • Define HSE KPIs, dashboards, and performance tracking systems.
  • Conduct daily and weekly inspections of racking, equipment, walkways, fire exits, and emergency systems.
  • Lead incident and near miss investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain safety documentation including permits, checklists, toolbox talks, and MSDS records.
  • Ensure warehouse hygiene standards, pest control, and waste management.
  • Ensure first aid readiness, stocked kits, trained first aiders, and incident logs.
  • Promote health awareness initiatives such as hydration, fatigue management, and safe lifting practices.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations including waste disposal, emissions, and spill control.
Facility Management
  • Ensure the periodic and regular maintenance of the MHEs and machines in the warehouse.
  • Collaborate with all warehouse and logistics points of contact to manage procurement and maintenance of consumables and IT equipment.
  • Maintain records of contracts, licences, and AMC documents and ensure renewals before expiry.
  • Collaborate with functional heads in launching new sites to secure facility services in a timely manner.
Loss Prevention
  • Identify vulnerabilities (e.g., loss, associate experience, process improvement) and define mitigating actions while ensuring legal and ethical compliance.
  • Serve as point of contact for risk management with local management and external authorities on all security related matters.
Incident & Emergency Management
  • Serve as point of contact for risk management with local management and external authorities on all safety or security compliance matters.
  • Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Maintain incident logs and ensure timely closure of actions.
  • Coordinate emergency response drills including fire, evacuation, and spill response.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience owning HSE or workplace safety programs in manufacturing, production or warehouse operations.
  • Experience with OSHA and other HSE regulatory requirements in the UAE.
  • Clear knowledge of local rules and regulations from authorities.
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety, engineering, environmental science or related field.
  • Experience in audits, risk assessments, and compliance systems.
  • Certification in NEBOSH or equivalent (preferred/required based on level).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building HSE functions or systems from scratch.
  • ISO standards knowledge (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Experience working in fast paced, tech enabled organizations.
