Human Resources Manager (Construction & Skilled Trades) — HR + Recruiting Lead
Job Title: Human Resources Manager (Construction & Skilled Trades)
Employment Type: Full-time, On-site
Salary: $60,000–$80,000/year (commensurate with experience)
Industry: Construction / Skilled Trades (roofing, insulation, HVAC, manufacturing, or similar)
About the Role
We’re hiring a high-output HR Manager who also owns recruiting. This role is for a fast, sharp, high-energy communicator who moves with urgency, speaks with confidence, and gets results without needing hand-holding.
You’ll run HR and talent acquisition end-to-end—building the team, protecting the culture, tightening processes, and keeping standards high across field crews and admin staff. If you’re the type who sees a problem, says it out loud, and fixes it the same week—this is for you.
Who We Want
We want a powerful operator, not a “paper pusher.”
You are:
- Fast: you move quickly, follow through, and don’t let tasks stall.
- Smart: you learn systems fast and make good decisions under pressure.
- Strong communicator: you’re talkative in a productive way—clear, direct, persuasive, and comfortable leading difficult conversations.
- Action-first: you execute, you don’t over-plan.
- High standards: you hold people accountable while staying fair and professional.
About Us
We’re a growing company in the skilled trades—roofing, insulation, HVAC, and related services. Our work is fast-paced and performance-driven. We reward effort, ownership, and reliability. We’re building a culture where people show up, communicate, and execute.
What You’ll Own (HR + Recruiting)
- Own recruiting from start to finish (this is a core part of the job): sourcing, screening, interviews, offer process, onboarding, and improving time-to-hire—especially for skilled trades roles.
- Lead the full HR function for field + admin: employee relations, policies, performance management, corrective action, and offboarding.
- Build pipelines for trade roles: installers/technicians, crew leads, project managers, production/shop roles, coordinators, and office support.
- Partner with leadership on staffing plans, org structure, performance expectations, and workforce decisions.
- Implement strong HR systems: policies, SOPs, handbooks, and documentation that actually work in a job-site environment.
- Retention and accountability: reduce churn, improve performance, and drive a culture of reliability and execution.
- Compliance: keep us clean across labor laws, documentation, and HR best practices in multiple jurisdictions.
- Use tools and numbers: Hubstaff + HR metrics to track hiring funnel health, performance, and retention.
Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
- 3+ years experience as an HR Manager, HR Business Partner, or similar senior HR role.
- Strong HR experience in construction / skilled trades / manufacturing — ideally roofing, insulation, HVAC, general construction, or production environments.
- Proven success recruiting and supporting field crews + admin teams.
- Strong employment law knowledge + practical employee relations experience.
- Excellent English (written and spoken).
- Comfortable using Hubstaff for time tracking and accountability.
Why Join Us
- You’ll have real authority and ownership—this role drives hiring, standards, and culture.
- Direct access to leadership and fast decision-making.
- Competitive pay + growth runway as we scale.
