Job Duties

The Human Resources Department of the Office of the Executive Secretary in Virginia’s Judicial System has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced, team-oriented human resources analyst eager to provide advanced-level human resources services in a high-volume, fast-paced HR office. The successful candidate will have demonstrated hands-on work experience in a position or positions responsible for multiple functional areas of HR simultaneously (e.g., talent acquisition, classification and compensation, benefits administration, onboarding and offboarding, etc.) or multiple specialist roles in various functional areas of HR (e.g., classification and compensation, talent acquisition, benefits, etc.)



Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Provides guidance on HR policies and procedures, ensuring that employees, supervisors and managers understand their rights and responsibilities.
  • Collects data and analyzes it to improve HR strategies and processes, including recommending ways to increase the functional productivity and workflow of the HR department.
  • Develops job aids and relevant training material and leads training events on HR topics to various audiences throughout the judicial system.

This position may be required to travel (day and overnight) in order to conduct training, present at conferences, and provide other HR functions as requested/required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Significant experience in one or more functional areas of human resource management, preferably related to classification and compensation and/or human resources information systems. Has an in-depth knowledge of HR legislation in order to interpret and advise staff to help reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance. Proven ability to research, analyze, develop, and interpret laws, rules, policies, practices, and procedures to make logical decisions.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present data-based reports on HR metrics
  • Strong skills in statistics and data analysis
  • Ability to design and implement effective research and data analysis
  • Strong knowledge of HR databases and Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Several years of relevant work experience
