Job Summary:

The Human Resource Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s HR team.

Full Time, Hourly: $48,000-$52,000 per year

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 1-3 years of experience in a HR role that involves recruiting, onboarding/training, employee relations, and managing regulatory and compliance issues.
  • PHR/SPHR certification or SHRM-Certified Professional is preferred, must be able to obtain a certification within the first 6 months.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides clerical support to the HR team.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Post job openings on behalf of clients, review resumes, conduct phone screens, and coordinate interviews.
  • Prepare onboarding materials and assist with new hire paperwork and compliance requirements.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • May assist with payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, and distributing checks.
  • Assist with compliance tracking (I-9s, background checks, required postings, training logs, etc.).
  • Support in researching employment law and HR compliance updates for clients.
  • Conduct HR-related research (benchmarking, best practices, employment laws).
  • Assist with drafting recommendations, policies, and project deliverables.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently stand, bend, stretch, and walk for long periods of time. Vision requirements include color vision, reading a computer monitor, managing a cellular device. The employee must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Work Environment Work is frequently performed inside a temperature-controlled facility. Level of noise varies in this fast-paced, busy work environment.
