We are seeking an experienced HR Assistant looking to grow within a well-respected community focused non-profit organization. The HR Assistant supports Feeding America West Michigan Mission with multiple human resources functions. This position includes support in recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and HR legal compliance. Along with management and implementation of company policies ensuring adherence to labor laws. The HR Assistant will report to the Chief Human Resources Officer working with the administrative department consisting of 4 other team members.
Essential Job Functions:
Manage HRIS system in support of the CHRO
Support CHRO in legal compliance including FMLA, DOL, EEOC, OSHA, and ACA regulations, compliance, licensing, and filing
Provide HR administrative support that includes data entry, file maintenance and record retention
Assist with internal/external HR related inquiries and requests
Employee Relations-Onboarding and offboarding, performance management, recruitment, pre-employment and payroll processing using HRIS software
Support CHRO in benefits administration
Assist the CHRO in ensuring job descriptions are updated and electronically filed consistently
Act as a champion to increase employee engagement including: Membership and support of the Employee Event Committee as a liaison between the EEC and the CHRO, actively work with the CHRO to develop mentorship opportunities to fit employee needs. Annual employee engagement survey support. Employee training and support as needed
Assist CHRO in policy formulation, implementation including updates to the FAWM Employee Handbook
Professional and Personal Requirements:
Regular attendance and attention to punctuality are required for a person to be successful in this role
High school education and HR certifications required
Experience in Human Resources support or management
Maintain strict confidentiality in employee records, donors, vendors, and guests.
Microsoft Office skills including Outlook 365, Word, Excel, SharePoint and OneDrive experience
Ability to work with a diverse staff
Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Ability to gain and maintain trust and respect among staff
