Job Summary
We are seeking a Part-Time HR Assistant / Safety Manager to manage CDL driver safety and support human resources operations. This newly created position will oversee safety programs for approximately 70 CDL drivers using Samsara camera and telematics systems while assisting with recruiting, onboarding, and HR administration. This role has the potential to become a full-time position based on candidate skill set, performance, and company workload.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Management & Compliance

  • Manage and administer CDL driver safety programs
  • Monitor driver performance using Samsara dual-facing cameras and telematics
  • Conduct driver coaching, counseling, and corrective actions
  • Develop, update, and implement the annual company safety program
  • Manage risk through the company’s captive insurance program
  • Track and manage claims using Maverick claims management software
  • Administer and manage workers’ compensation claims
  • Maintain safety records, incident reports, and DOT-related documentation
  • Analyze safety trends and report findings to senior leadership

Human Resources Support

  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees
  • Prepare and maintain HR documentation and employee records
  • Support HR compliance and employee relations activities
  • Assist HR leadership with administrative tasks as needed

Administrative Duties

  • Perform general office and administrative duties
  • Support cross-functional communication and safety initiatives

Qualifications

  • Safety management experience strongly preferred
  • Transportation, trucking, or CDL-related safety experience preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT compliance, driver coaching, and accident investigation
  • Experience with Samsara, Maverick, or similar safety/telematics platforms preferred
  • Strong organizational, computer, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • HR or administrative experience is a plus

Pay: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 – 35.0 per week
