Copperweld is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HR Co-op to support our Human Resources team while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This position will provide exposure to a broad range of HR functions, including recruiting, employee relations, benefits administration, HR systems, reporting, onboarding, and employee engagement.
The ideal candidate is eager to learn, highly organized, proficient with Microsoft Office applications, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Support recruiting activities including candidate screening, interview scheduling, job posting management, and applicant communications.
Assist with onboarding activities, new hire paperwork, orientation preparation, and employee file maintenance.
Maintain accurate employee records and support data entry within HR systems.
Assist with HR reporting and analytics, including turnover, absenteeism, overtime, headcount, and recruiting metrics.
Prepare reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other HR-related documentation.
Support employee engagement and morale initiatives, recognition programs, and company events.
Assist with benefits administration and employee communications.
Help coordinate training programs and maintain training records.
Provide administrative support for HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist with policy communication and HR process documentation.
Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.
Support additional HR activities and special projects as assigned.
Must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Communications, or a related field.
Must be able to commit to at least one academic semester of employment in a part-time capacity.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, including the ability to create and maintain spreadsheets, analyze data, and utilize formulas.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook is required, including calendar management, scheduling, and professional business communication.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and willingness to learn.
Experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint preferred.
Previous internship, co-op, leadership, or work experience is a plus.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Occasional walking throughout manufacturing and office areas.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including occasional exposure to varying temperatures and production noise.
