Human Resources Compliance Specialist

We are seeking an experienced HR Compliance Specialist to take ownership of our multi-state compliance programs across a rapidly growing organization. This position is responsible for leading compliance audits, building and maintaining programs, and proactively identifying risks across the business.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience conducting OSHA, FLSA, and multi-state compliance audits, has written and implemented company policies, and is confident operating as a subject matter expert across HR, Legal, and HR Operations.

This is a full-time, on-site role, in Austin, Texas

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute multi-state HR compliance audits (FLSA, OSHA, wage & hour, classification, etc.)
  • Conduct internal audits across departments and field operations and identify compliance risks and implement corrective action plans
  • Manage and ensure accuracy of reporting related to:
  • OSHA (logs, reporting, programs)
  • EEOC
  • FMLA / ADA
  • Workers’ Compensation
  • Draft, update, and implement company policies and SOPs
  • Lead annual handbook and policy reviews
  • Build and maintain programs such as:
  • Workplace safety (HIPP, WVPP)
  • Drug & alcohol policies
  • Suspension and investigation protocols
  • Ensure policies align with multi-state legal requirements
  • Audit workers’ compensation billing, reporting, and claims processes while managing vendor relationships
  • Act as a go-to compliance expert for leadership

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of HR compliance and/or employment law experience
  • Proven experience leading compliance audits (OSHA, FLSA, wage & hour, classification)
  • Experience writing and implementing company policies and handbooks
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Federal and state labor laws
  • OSHA compliance programs and reporting
  • FLSA and wage & hour regulations
  • Experience supporting or partnering with legal teams, employment counsel, or handling legal/compliance matters directly
  • Experience working in multi-state or multi-entity environments

Preferred (but strong differentiators)

  • Experience supporting field-based or non-traditional workforces (sales, canvassing, drivers, etc.)
  • Experience managing workers’ compensation programs and audits
  • Experience with Workday or similar HRIS
  • HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
