Brief Description

Natural Lands, a vibrant, regional, nonprofit organization and leader in land conservation, natural resource stewardship, and public engagement, seeks a Human Resources Coordinator to join our team at our headquarters on the Hildacy Preserve in Media, Pennsylvania.

Since the early 1950s, Natural Lands has saved open space, cared for nature, and connected people to the outdoors in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. Today, the organization is one of the nation’s largest regional land conservancies and is widely respected for its record of success, technical expertise, respectful and creative approach to partnerships, fiscal strength, and integrity.

Over the course of its nearly 70-year history, Natural Lands has helped preserve more than 135,000 acres including a network of over 40 nature preserves and one public garden across two states and 13 counties. These properties total 23,000 acres and include many of the most spectacular and diverse properties in the region, which are enjoyed by more than 300,000 visitors annually.

The Human Resources Coordinator will work closely with the Human Resources Department, reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, providing a broad range of administrative and operational duties. This position will also support the department with project work.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Vice President of Human Resources and Human Resources team.
  • Foster a diverse culture and make recommendations to ensure policies and procedures are inclusive for all employees.
  • Promotes Human Resources programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace conducive to maintaining and improving organizational culture.
  • Perform administrative tasks including but not limited to copying, scanning, and general information organization.
  • Maintain and update department records and reports.
  • Assist with the billing and invoice process.
  • Provide support with various projects related to the department’s work plan, including goals and initiatives.
  • Discrete handling of information and documentation of a sensitive nature.
  • Support maintenance of the Employee Handbook, documenting changes in policies and procedures as needed; works closely with Human Resources team to ensure proper compliance is monitored.
  • Support the Human Resources department with facilitating the onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Assist with reference checks on applicants.
  • Maintain and update employee the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) information as needed.
  • Recommend possible actions to improve existing processes.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities.
  • Assist with other special projects upon request.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years administrative experience; at least one year of Human Resources related experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Capable of and willing to perform a wide variety of administrative tasks.
  • Highly motivated, responsible, reliable, and dependable.
  • Willing to take initiative and work independently when needed.
  • Demonstrates professional integrity and sense of responsibility and accountability.
  • Flexible when dealing with changes in work plans.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with information of a sensitive nature.
  • Able to carry out tasks in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Computer savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint; Human Resources systems preferred.
  • Provides recommendations and suggestions of improved organizational policy, procedures, and practices related to employee operations.
  • Licensed Notary Public or ability to attain licensure within one year of employment.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This is a hybrid office-based position, allowing for both in-office and remote work. The position requires sitting for most of the time, with occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting. This position requires occasional driving to off-site locations as needed or scheduled. The position requires the ability to use a computer, copier, and scanner. The position also requires the ability to speak, hear, and use a computer and telephone.
