The HR Director serves as both a cultural steward and a systems expert, ensuring people practices are consistent, transparent, and scalable—without losing the human element.
The HR Director is responsible for leading talent acquisition strategy, UKG workforce system ownership, and core HR operations across VHA. This role balances strategic leadership with hands-on execution, ensuring recruiting pipelines are strong, hiring decisions are data-informed, and HR systems fully support operational and clinical excellence.
A key priority of this role is to function as VHA’s UKG Super User, optimizing system configuration, reporting, workflows, and adoption across teams.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning – Designs and executes recruiting strategies that meet current and future staffing needs, with a strong focus on quality, speed, and cultural alignment.
HR Operations & Compliance – Ensures compliance, policy integrity, and accurate HR data across the employee lifecycle.
Recruiting Effectiveness – Reduced time-to-fill, improved candidate quality, and strong hiring manager partnership.
Executive & Leadership Partnership – Operates as a strategic advisor, not a transactional function.
Robust Talent Pipeline – Consistent, proactive recruiting for clinical, operational, and leadership roles.
Leadership Confidence in Hiring – Managers are supported with tools, data, and guidance to make strong hiring decisions.
Reduced Risk & Increased Compliance – Accurate records, consistent processes, and proactive issue management.
7+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
Proven ability to partner with leaders through hiring, performance, and change
Healthcare or veterinary industry experience
Experience scaling HR in a multi-department or multi-site organization
Familiarity with EOS, Huron/Studer, or values-based leadership models
