Position Summary
The Human Resources Director is a key member of the executive leadership team and plays a critical role in supporting the continued growth and success of Mountain West Industrial. This position is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategies that align with the company's business objectives while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
The HR Director will provide strategic leadership for all human resources functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, compensation, HR systems, workforce planning, organizational development, and risk management. This position oversees the Human Resources department and collaborates closely with company leadership to support operational excellence and employee engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Human Resources team, establishing processes, procedures, and performance standards.
- Develop and implement HR strategies that support company growth and operational objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations across multiple states.
- Oversee employee relations matters, investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
- Manage and maintain company employee records, HRIS systems, and personnel documentation.
- Oversee employee onboarding, orientation, and integration into the company structure.
- Manage relationships with Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs), benefit providers, and third-party HR vendors.
- Administer and evaluate employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, and leave programs.
- Direct workers' compensation administration, claims management, return-to-work programs, and related compliance requirements.
- Oversee payroll compliance audits, workers' compensation audits, unemployment claims, and other regulatory audits.
- Develop, maintain, and update employee handbooks, policies, and procedures.
- Create and maintain job descriptions, compensation structures, and workforce planning initiatives.
- Partner with executive leadership on organizational design, succession planning, and talent management strategies.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, integrations, and organizational growth initiatives as needed.
- Analyze workforce metrics and provide recommendations to leadership regarding staffing, retention, and employee development.
- Oversee compliance reporting, affirmative action requirements, and employment-related recordkeeping.
- Manage employee data and reporting across multiple software platforms and systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience.
- Minimum of 4 years managing an HR department or HR team.
- Extensive knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws and regulations.
- Experience managing HR operations within a construction, industrial, manufacturing, or related field environment.
- Experience managing workers' compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and OSHA-related employee matters.
- Experience overseeing payroll compliance and employment tax requirements across multiple states.
- Experience administering employee benefit programs and vendor relationships.
- Experience working within complex corporate structures that include multiple operating entities.
- Strong knowledge of HRIS systems and human capital management platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with executives, managers, and employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Experience with Davis Bacon/Prevailing wages
- Experience with state regulated Workmans comp programs / state registration
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Human Resources, or related field.
- SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, or PHR certification.
- Five or more years of Human Resources leadership experience within the construction industry.
- Experience supporting a multi-state workforce exceeding 500 employees.
- Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and organizational integrations.
- Experience managing HR functions for a large construction or industrial services contractor.

Work Environment
This position is based at the corporate office and requires regular interaction with employees, managers, executives, clients, and external partners. Occasional travel may be required to support operations, investigations, audits, acquisitions, or company initiatives.
Pay: $120,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
