Job Title: Human Resource Director (Part-time)

Department: Administration

Reports to: President

Job Purpose:

The Human Resource Director (Specialist) at Saint Viator plays a key role in supporting the mission and values of our Catholic school community. This position is responsible for recruiting, hiring and training employees as well as evaluating compensation packages, ensuring labor law compliance, evaluating compensation packages, resolving workplace issues and developing a positive school culture.

Day to Day or Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and update job descriptions.
  • Attract, interview and select new candidates in collaboration with administration to fill open positions within the school.
  • Coordinate and schedule interview day visits in consultation with Principal and Department Chairs.
  • Perform background checks, reference checks and onboarding to ensure all employees are in compliance with mandated training/guidelines for schools.
  • Implement and enforce an employee performance review system.
  • Maintain employee employment files.
  • Assist with employee benefit programs, update employees on new benefits and/or changes to benefit programs.
  • Perform exit interviews.
  • Update handbooks in collaboration with administration on an annual basis.
  • Provide support for workplace issues as they arise.
  • Respond and monitor all claims for unemployment and workers compensation.
  • Plan events to foster employee development and a positive school culture.

Coordinate new faculty/staff training with administration

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, or related.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of Human Resource experience, school setting preferred.
  • Personal support of Saint Viator High School’s mission and vision, exercises good judgement, personal integrity and maturity.
  • Experience using Talent Management software, such as Paycom.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse educational environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and requirements for schools

Working Environment or Conditions:

  • Work in a dynamic school environment, collaborating closely with administration, faculty, and external auditors.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for special projects or reporting deadlines.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone and keyboard; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Moderate lifting is required.
