Reporting to the HR Manager, the Human Resource Generalist is responsible for supporting day-to-day HR operations, with a focus on payroll processing, HRIS management, and benefits administration. This role ensures compliance with company policies and employment laws while fostering a positive employee experience.
Human Resources Generalist Accountabilities:
Payroll Administration
- 
Process biweekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time.
- 
Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- 
Coordinate with Finance for payroll funding and reporting.
- 
Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries.
HRIS Management
- 
Maintain and update employee data in the HRIS system.
- 
Generate reports and analytics.
- 
Assist with system upgrades, testing, and implementation.
- 
Ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
Benefits Administration
- 
Administer employee benefits programs including but not limited to health, dental, vision, life insurance, FSA, HSA, disability, COBRA, and retirement plans.
- 
Coordinate open enrollment and benefits communication.
- 
Serve as a liaison between employees and benefit providers.
- 
Manage leave of absence requests (FMLA, disability, MN PFML, etc.).
Compliance & Documentation
- 
Complete and maintain Form I-9 and E-Verify for all new hires in accordance with federal guidelines.
- 
Conduct regular audits of I-9 documentation and ensure timely reverification.
- 
Maintain personnel files and ensure compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
- 
Support internal and external audits related to HR documentation.
- 
Responsible for quarterly and annual tax, wages, and benefits compliance procedures and reporting.
General HR Support
- 
Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
- 
Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
- 
Support employee relations and performance management initiatives.
- 
Participate in HR projects and process improvements.
Human Resources Generalist Education and Experience:
- 
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in human resources, processing payroll, and administering benefits.
- Human Resources Information system (HRIS) admin experience.
- Payroll certification preferred (CPP, FPC).
- Knowledge and proficient use of Microsoft computer applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- 
This job requires skills needed in a typical office environment. This includes computer skills, communication skills, as well as utilization of office equipment.
