HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Human Resource Generalist performs duties at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, recruitment/employment, policy implementation, benefits administration, performance management, employment law compliance, and hourly payroll. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must take an active role in establishing employee goodwill, and helping the company succeed.
Essential Functions
Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations.
Partners with the company leadership to educate and create excitement about the company ESOP (Employee share ownership plan). Knowledge of an ESOP is a plus, but not required.
Reports vacation, personal day and attendance point usage to the leadership team.
Process payroll for approx. 50-60 hourly employees using third party software each week.
Monitors tardy and absenteeism reports and ensures proper documentation is issued on employees who have excessive tardiness or absenteeism problems.
Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests: short-term disability and FMLA.
Reports, maintains and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.
Performs all steps in hiring process including job posting, applicant screening, interviewing, and orientation.
Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from a database.
Works closely with approved staffing agencies to fill open production positions.
Reviews benefits with employees during enrollment, and monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans.
Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints and harassment allegations.
Participates in local SI-SHRM meetings
Presents and updates employee safety training for employees.
Assists with planning of approx. two company events per year.

This is a non-exempt position working 8 -5 daily with competitive benefits package including:

Required Education and Experience
An associates or bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, or one to two years’ experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.).
