Overview
Dolan Homes is a family business with a portfolio of three businesses and 100 employees. We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to plan, direct, and coordinate all human resources activities and payroll processing.
The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Develop and conduct recruitment processes, pre-screen questions, write postings, screen applicants, and set up background checks and/or drug screens
· Independently determine, write, and develop job descriptions, policies, employee handbook, and procedures
· Develop onboarding system to ensure accurate information is being communicated
· Processes new hire paperwork, payroll changes, benefit changes and any other employee changes accurately
· Maintain and update employee files with accuracy and confidentiality
· Develop and conduct new hire orientations
· Administer employee benefit plans
· Develop and conduct open enrollment for group benefits through transmission to carriers accurately and on time
· Process accurate and timely payroll
· Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses and deductions
· Accurately process and submit 401(k) contributions
· Ensure payroll activities comply with federal, state and local laws
· Complete annual compliance requirements including ACA, non-discrimination testing, EEOC, retirement plan testing, workers comp audits
· Run and review preliminary W-2s to ensure accuracy of tax withholdings, benefits and employee information
· Conduct regular, thorough compliance audits of all procedures and employee records
· Provide ongoing training and development programs to help ensure employees stay up to date on state and federal regulations, company policies, and best practices
· Research, communicate, and develop policies, mandatory posting requirements, federal, state, and city compliance, and other notices based on locations and regulatory changes
· Accurately complete data entry on payroll systems, vendor systems, spreadsheets, and databases
· Respond to employee relations activities through documentation, policy guidance, and HR best-practice
· Facilitate mass mailings and compliance notifications
· Collaborate and communicate with co-workers in a team environment
· File or scan documents and perform other clerical functions
· Work toward continuous quality improvement in all tasks and procedures
· Work with the highest levels of accountability, integrity, honesty and ethics
· Support and comply with all safety and security policies to ensure data is protected and employees are safe
· Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
· Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
· Other duties as assigned
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in business, Human Resources, or related combination of experience with education
· 5 or more years’ experience as an HR Generalist required
· PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
· Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel Outlook, Carrier sites, and HRIS systems)
· Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
· Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
· Excellent ability to manage time, projects, and multi-task to ensure accurate, timely and completion of work assignments
· Excellent problem-solving ability to quickly identify and resolve problems timely, gather & analyze information, and communicate options or resolutions
· Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain confidentiality, remain open to others’ ideas and exhibit a willingness to try new things
· Excellent dependability by being at work and on time, respond to management direction, mentor others, solicit feedback to improve performance, and provide recommendations for change
· Excellent teamwork by working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
· Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
· Must be able to hear, talk, listen, and speak clearly on telephone, in person, or in virtual meetings so that other can understand
· May sit for extended periods up to 4 hours
· Constant use of hands to type on keyboard, use a mouse, grasp paper, sort documents, operate office equipment
· Ability to use vision to see color variations on a computer, on paper and to see body language in person or in virtual meetings
· May travel on occasion to work sites in Western Illinois within an hour drive
· Valid driver’s license may be required for work-related travel
· May occasionally lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
· Works in a temperature-controlled indoor office space with standard office noise
