Human Resources Generalist

Job Title: HR Generalist (Shared Services – Healthcare & Accounting Startups)

Location: Phoenix, AZ (In-Person now, hybrid later for strong candidates)
Employment Type: Full-Time

We operate two fast-growing, mission-driven businesses:

  • Awaken Your Voice LLC – A speech therapy clinic focused on delivering high-quality care and expanding access through a strong network of SLPs and SLPAs.
  • Better Ways Accounting & Tax – A modern accounting firm helping small business owners gain clarity and control over their finances.

Both companies are in the early growth stage (12–20 team members each), and we are now investing in building a strong people and HR infrastructure to scale sustainably while preserving our culture.

The Role

We are hiring an HR Generalist to serve as a shared resource across both organizations, with a primary focus on recruiting and building scalable HR systems.

This is not a maintenance-only HR role — this is a build-and-own role. You will design, implement, and manage the systems that support hiring, onboarding, compliance, and team operations as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

Awaken Your Voice (60%) – Healthcare Recruiting & Growth

Goal: Grow from 10 → 30 providers by 12/31/2026

  • Build and manage a consistent recruiting pipeline for SLPs and SLPAs
  • (Indeed, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, career fairs, school partnerships, etc.)
  • Develop relationships with SLPA/SLP training programs and schools
  • Implement and manage a candidate tracking and onboarding system (likely GHL or similar CRM/ATS)
  • Guide candidates through credentialing and onboarding requirements
  • Deliver qualified, ready-to-work providers to the Operations Coordinator
  • Continuously improve hiring funnels for speed, quality, and conversion

Better Ways Accounting & Tax (40%) – Talent Pipeline & HR Operations

Goal: Maintain a ready pipeline of accounting talent to support growth

  • Replicate and adapt recruiting systems from Awaken Your Voice
  • Build a pipeline of accountants/bookkeepers ready to step into roles
  • Manage recruiting, screening, and initial interviews
  • Deliver qualified candidates for final interviews
  • Co-create and implement People Standards (PTO, attendance, performance expectations)
  • Track and manage: PTO, Sick days, Tardiness / attendance
  • Support employee handbook development and policy structure
  • Lead or support culture-building initiatives (team engagement, retention, etc.)

What Success Looks Like

  • We always have qualified candidates ready before roles open
  • Hiring becomes predictable, fast, and systemized
  • Onboarding is smooth, compliant, and repeatable
  • Team members clearly understand expectations and policies
  • Both companies scale without losing culture or operational stability

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years in HR, recruiting, or talent acquisition
  • Experience building or improving hiring systems/processes
  • Strong organizational and operational thinking
  • Ability to manage multiple roles and pipelines simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a startup / build-from-scratch environment

Preferred:

  • Experience recruiting in healthcare (SLPs/SLPAs) or professional services
  • Familiarity with ATS/CRM systems (GHL, Greenhouse, Lever, etc.)
  • Experience creating HR policies, handbooks, or people operations systems
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
