Girl Scouts - Dakota Horizons is a mission-driven nonprofit that helps build girls of courage, confidence, and character. Through council-sponsored events, camps, and hands-on experiences, girls build skills, make lifelong friends, and create unforgettable memories during their most formative years. Our volunteers/adult members play an essential and rewarding role in facilitating these opportunities for girls – helping them grow, learn, and positively impact their communities.

We’re seeking an experienced HR Generalist to lead and execute a wide range of HR functions - including recruitment, onboarding, leave administration, team member relations support, and HR data integrity for the Dakota Horizons Council. In this role, you’ll provide support across multiple HR specialty areas as needs arise, creating a dynamic, varied position where no two weeks look the same.

Your HR expertise will allow you to partner with leaders to hire, train, support, and care for team members throughout every stage of the team member lifecycle. This is a highly collaborative and impactful role that directly supports the success of the Dakota Horizons Council and the members we serve.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the first point of contact for team member questions related to recruitment, onboarding, training, team member relations, performance management, leaves of absence, benefits, and strategic HR projects.
  • Maintain data accuracy and integrity across HRIS systems, benefit vendors, and timekeeping processes to ensure smooth and accurate payroll and lifecycle administration.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and the Chief People & Administration Officer to effectively administer HR programs.
  • Inspire, lead, educate, and model the values of Girl Scouts through strong people practices and leading by example.

What You Bring

  • Associate’s degree in a related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of HR experience across multiple HR disciplines (recruitment, training, team member relations, benefits, compensation, etc.).
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Strong, professional communication skills with the ability to coach and support others.
  • Genuine passion and enthusiasm for the Girl Scout Mission.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; HRIS experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel periodically within the Midwest.

Pay & Benefits

  • $47,000 – $50,000 annually, DOE

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Flexible Scheduling available within our core business hours: Monday – Thursday 7am – 6pm, Friday – Offices closed in the afternoon
  • Hybrid work environment (3 days in office, 2 days work from home)
  • Occasional evening and rarely weekend and overnight travel required across North and South Dakota.
  • Position based in Sioux Falls, SD
