Human Resources Generalist - Russell Sage College

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Director of HR and the Assistant Director of HR for Recruitment as well as the Payroll Supervisor on projects related to several functional areas to include recruitment, employment, compensation administration, onboarding, policy development, training, and wellness initiatives. The HR Generalist will also have tasks in the payroll department.

This position offers the flexibility to work remotely one day per week, subject to team schedules and college needs. Employees are expected to maintain effective communication and collaboration while working off-site.

The estimated wage is $21 per hour for 37.5 hours per week for 52 weeks.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; HR experience is preferred.
  • General knowledge of employment law and practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with strict deadlines for projects
  • Detail-oriented to avoid making errors and to recognize errors made by others
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information
  • Ability to operate calculator, computer, and other general office equipment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely- verbally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize work and perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
