Job description: The Human Resources Manager oversees all human resources operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supporting both production employees and professional staff. This role partners closely with operations leadership to align workforce planning with production goals, specializing in high-volume recruiting, labor law compliance, worker safety, and employee relations. Key duties include managing performance across hourly and salaried teams, developing compensation strategies, and cultivating a safe, productive, and engaged workforce. Preferred 5+ years of experience in an industrial or factory environment.



Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Staffing: Lead, manage, and scale recruitment efforts for production employees (operators, assemblers, technicians) as well as professional staff (engineering, administrative, and leadership roles) to meet production schedules and business objectives.
  • Workforce Planning & Production Support: Partner with plant leadership to forecast staffing needs, manage headcount, and support shift scheduling, overtime planning, and workforce flexibility to meet changing production demands.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, labor laws, and company policies, with a strong presence on the production floor to reinforce safety practices and support a culture of accountability.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted resource for both hourly and salaried employees; manage grievances, mediate conflicts, and promote a positive work environment in a high-pressure, production-driven setting.
  • Performance Management: Implement and manage performance programs for both production and professional staff, including productivity tracking, skill development, and leadership coaching.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Administer competitive compensation and benefits programs for a diverse workforce, including hourly shift differentials, incentive programs, and salaried structures aligned with market trends.
  • Training & Development: Support onboarding, safety training, and upskilling initiatives for production employees, while also developing leadership and professional development programs for staff.
  • Policy Development: Develop, communicate, and enforce HR policies and procedures that support both operational efficiency and employee engagement across all levels of the organization.

Required Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5–7 years of HR management experience, with a strong focus on manufacturing, industrial relations, or factory environments supporting both hourly and salaried employees.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of local and federal labor laws (e.g., FMLA, EEO), OSHA standards, and experience with HRIS systems.
  • Competencies: Strong leadership, business partnership mindset, and the ability to operate effectively between the production floor and corporate functions; excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Desired Skills:

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred

  • Experience supporting multi-shift operations or production environments.

Travel:

  • Less than 5% Travel

Physical:

  • Must be able to sit or stand for up to 8 hours, including time spent on the production floor
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise, temperature variations, and PPE requirements
