Big House Construction is seeking a Human Resources Manager to oversee HR operations with a strong focus on 1099 subcontractor compliance, documentation, and risk management.
This role is responsible for ensuring all personnel—both W-2 employees and 1099 contractors—are properly onboarded, documented, and compliant before any work begins. You will play a key role in protecting the company from liability while supporting scalable growth across our roofing, restoration, and construction divisions.
This is a process-driven, high-accountability position that requires strong organizational skills and a deep understanding of contractor compliance in the construction industry.
Duties1099 Contractor Compliance (Primary Focus)
- Manage onboarding and compliance for all subcontractors
- Ensure all agreements, insurance, and documentation are executed prior to work
- Track Certificates of Insurance (General Liability & Workers’ Compensation)
- Maintain contractor files, renewals, and compliance timelines
- Support audits, disputes, and risk mitigation efforts
Human Resources Management
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding for W-2 employees and 1099 contractors
- Maintain personnel files, agreements, and compliance documentation
- Coordinate disciplinary documentation and HR processes
- Serve as the primary HR contact for internal teams
Payroll & Compensation Coordination
- Coordinate payroll data for W-2 employees
- Track PTO, holidays, and overtime
- Support commission tracking and documentation verification
- Work with accounting to ensure accurate payroll processing
Operations & Systems
- Maintain CRM and internal system data integrity
- Ensure consistent use of company workflows and processes
- Support leadership with reporting, scheduling, and internal coordination
- Identify and implement process improvements
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure HR practices align with company policy and applicable laws
- Track required postings, notices, and documentation
- Maintain confidentiality in all HR matters
- Protect the company from compliance-related risk
Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years of HR, compliance, or operations experience
- Strong understanding of 1099 vs W-2 classification (required)
- Experience in construction, roofing, or trades (preferred)
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Process-driven mindset with ability to enforce structure
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Pay: $62,400.00 - $104,000.00 per year
