Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Job Purpose and Position Overview: Snow & Company is seeking a skilled and motivated Human Resources Manager to join our dynamic shipbuilding team. In this role, you will oversee and execute all aspects of the employee experience, compliance, and HR operations.


The Human Resources Manager plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s people strategy and ensuring a consistent, compliant, and high-quality employee experience. This individual is responsible for managing the full employee lifecycle, leading employee relations and performance management processes, and ensuring adherence to all applicable employment laws and workplace regulations.

This role requires strong judgment, discretion, and the ability to balance day-to-day HR operations with longer-term people initiatives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

The ideal candidate will be highly creative and possess excellent time management skills, take pride in delivering exceptional work, and consistently demonstrate reliability and a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employee Lifecyscle Management
    • Hiring, onboarding, development, and offboarding
    • Design implement and continuously improve processes to ensure consistency and quality employee experience
    • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure all documentation is completed, organized, and compliant
  • Employee Relations & Performance Management
    • Primary point of contact for employee relations matters, providing guidance and resolution support
    • Manage disciplinary processes
    • Oen and administer performance management process
    • Support conflict resolution while managing escalations with professionalism and discretion
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance will all employment laws, including OSHA and L&I requirements
    • Maintain and update employee handbook, policies, and procedures
    • Oversee and support workplace safety policies
    • Conduct internal investigations and manage employee related risk while maintaining confidentiality
  • Compensation & Benefits Administration
    • Execute compensation changes, adjustments, and related documentation with accuracy and timeliness
    • Support Chief of Staff with compensation planning
    • Partner with Benefits Manager on administration, implementation, and employee communication
  • Culture, Engagement, & Development
    • Partner with the Talen Acquisition & Engagement Manager to support initiatives that strengthen company culture and engagement
    • Lead planning and coordination of employee events and programs
    • Manage employee recognition appreciation initiatives
    • Develop and support training initiatives and programs
  • HR Programs & Systems Oversight
    • Ensure process documentation, implementation and consistency
    • Own and maintain employee data, records, and documentation within ADP
    • Maintain data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality across all systems

Essential Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum 6-8 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2-3 years in an HR Manager or equivalent leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and risk management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and exercise independent judgment
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization
  • Strong collaboration skills with a team-oriented mindset
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in technical documentation
  • Positive, can-do attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement


Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or industrial manufacturing environments


Certifications / Licenses:

  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR)


Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

This position is based in an office within an active boatyard and requires regular visits to vessels and production areas. These environments involve moderate to high noise levels, uneven surfaces, and physical access challenges such as inclined gangways and vertical ladders. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and strict adherence to safety protocols are mandatory.

Pay and Benefits:

  • $95,000 - $110,000 / annually
  • Full time, overtime exempt position
