HR Manager
Location: Oakland, CA (In-Person)**
Reports to: Vice President of Property Operations
Compensation: $90,000 to $105,000
Position Summary
ArtHaus is seeking a proactive and organized HR Manager to support people operations across our centralized property management platform. This role will focus on onboarding, HR administration, compliance, documentation, and coordination of training programs that support our leasing, maintenance, resident services, and accounting teams. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, process driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
People Operations
- Manage onboarding, offboarding, employee documentation, and HRIS updates.
- Coordinate recruitment logistics, interview scheduling, job postings, and offer letter preparation.
- Maintain accurate employee files, compliance documents, and HR reports.
- Partner with department leads to develop job descriptions, onboarding plans, and role-specific guidelines aligned with the centralized operating model.
- Support policy updates related to benefits, PTO, safety, and workplace practices in coordination with leadership and legal.
- Coordinate the structure and rollout of ArtHaus University, including scheduling, documentation, and cross-functional training pathways.
- Support culture-building and employee engagement efforts for field and centralized teams.
Operations Support
- Serve as liaison between field teams and the VP of Property Operations to support consistent execution of SOPs.
- Assist with process rollouts across leasing, maintenance, and resident service teams.
- Maintain updated rosters, role scopes, and departmental org charts.
- Coordinate systems access for new hires, including Yardi, EliseAI, Slack, Gmail, and other platforms.
- Support research and implementation of HR and productivity tools that enhance operational efficiency.
- Monitor system adoption and training needs; identify gaps and escalate recommendations.
- Assist with internal audits related to HR, facilities compliance, insurance documentation, and vendor onboarding.
- Help create internal communications, process documentation, and operational reference materials.
Compliance and Employee Relations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, with a strong focus on California requirements.
- Maintain accurate I-9, EEO, ACA, and training records.
- Coordinate with legal and insurance partners on incident reporting, claims, and OSHA documentation.
- Support consistent documentation of corrective actions, performance reviews, and employee relations matters.
- Assist with investigations or fact-finding as needed under the guidance of the VP of Property Operations and legal counsel.
Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in Human Resources or People Operations, ideally within real estate, property management, or a fast-paced operating environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of California labor law and HR compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting multi-site, field-based, or hybrid teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Hands-on experience with HR systems, time tracking tools, and performance management platforms (Gusto, BambooHR, Paylocity, ADP, or similar).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and interpersonal awareness.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
