Position Summary:
We are seeking a proactive, experienced, and hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead all HR functions in our growing retail organization of 55-100 employees. As the sole HR practitioner, you will oversee HR operations across multiple retail locations, ensuring compliance, supporting store leadership, and creating a positive work environment. This role requires a balance of strategic planning and day-to-day execution in a fast-paced, customer-focused industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Staffing
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for store-level and corporate positions.
- Collaborate with store managers to forecast staffing needs and reduce turnover.
- Maintain job postings, conduct interviews, and coordinate new hire onboarding.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Serve as a trusted advisor to store managers and employees on HR issues.
- Resolve conflicts, coach managers on employee performance, and ensure fair practices.
- Support a positive, inclusive, and productive retail work culture.
HR Compliance & Recordkeeping
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws (wage/hour, scheduling, I-9s, etc.).
- Maintain employee files and ensure confidentiality of HR data.
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits as needed.
Training & Performance Management
- Develop and roll out training programs on topics such as customer service, workplace safety, and harassment prevention.
- Lead the performance review process and support ongoing employee development.
- Identify high-potential talent and assist in career pathing and internal promotions.
Compensation & Benefits Administration
- Administer benefits programs including health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and leave of absence.
- Partner with payroll and finance to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Assist employees with benefit inquiries and claims issues.
Safety, Wellness & Culture
- Partner with store leadership to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Help lead wellness, recognition, and employee appreciation initiatives.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
- 5+ years of HR generalist experience; retail industry experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, retail labor regulations, and HR best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and travel to store locations as needed.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred:
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent).
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
