The Human Resources Manager will oversee HR functions, ensuring smooth business activities. This role will include managing employee relations, onboarding/offboarding, benefits administration, compliance with legal requirements, vendor relations, and office management duties while leading and directing the work of administrative staff. The position demands a highly organized, proactive, and people-focused individual to maintain operational efficiency across various departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and manage all HR functions, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, compliance with company policies, and maintaining accurate employee records.
  • Advise management on employee relations issues and ensure appropriate resolutions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including I-9 verification.
  • Conduct exit interviews, prepare separation notices, and manage employee offboarding processes.
  • Develop, update, and communicate HR policies, procedures to ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes, recommending policy adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure proper training and development opportunities for employees to foster growth and retention.
  • Coordinate with management in performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and succession planning.
  • Handle employee claims and worker’s compensation, including communication with insurance providers and medical teams.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop diverse teams, ensuring a collaborative work environment.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental projects, ensuring smooth communication and resource allocation.
  • Foster a positive organizational culture through employee engagement activities.
  • Implement programs to recognize employee achievements, celebrate milestones, and improve retention.
  • Support management in resolving employee performance issues and conflicts in accordance with company policies.
  • Track and analyze HR metrics (turnover, time-to-fill, absenteeism, training completion, etc.) and present data-driven recommendations to leadership.


QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of Human Resource Management experience, preferably in construction, landscaping, or other field-based industries.
  • Strong knowledge of California and Arizona labor laws, safety compliance, and HR best practices.

Skills:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR software systems (HRIS).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of payroll systems, HR software, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Comfortable working on-site and in the field to connect with employees.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.


WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a PC.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

WORKING HOURS:

Standard hours are Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day. This position is on-site at the Verde Property Services Office.
