Human Resources Manager/Bookkeeper

Job Overview
The Human Resources Manager plays a critical leadership role in a small medical billing business by overseeing human resources operations while providing managerial oversight of bookkeeping and invoicing functions. This position balances strategic HR leadership with hands-on financial oversight, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and a high-performing workforce within a healthcare services environment.

Key Responsibilities – Human Resources

  • Lead and manage all human resources functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and retention
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including HIPAA considerations
  • Oversee payroll, benefits administration, timekeeping, and leave management
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to ownership on staffing, compensation, and organizational planning
  • Manage employee relations matters, investigations, and disciplinary actions with discretion

Key Responsibilities – Accounting & Invoicing Oversight

  • Provide oversight of client invoicing for medical billing services to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage accounts payable workflows, approvals, and payment schedules
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and billing software vendors
  • Prepare management-level reports related to invoicing, revenue, and expenses
  • Oversee payroll-related accounting entries

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred
  • 4–6 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a healthcare or medical billing environment
  • 2 or more years of accounting, invoicing, or accounts payable experience
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA, healthcare billing practices, and compliance requirements

Work Environment

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
