Job Overview
The Human Resources Manager plays a critical leadership role in a small medical billing business by overseeing human resources operations while providing managerial oversight of bookkeeping and invoicing functions. This position balances strategic HR leadership with hands-on financial oversight, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and a high-performing workforce within a healthcare services environment.
Key Responsibilities – Human Resources
- Lead and manage all human resources functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and retention
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including HIPAA considerations
- Oversee payroll, benefits administration, timekeeping, and leave management
- Serve as a strategic advisor to ownership on staffing, compensation, and organizational planning
- Manage employee relations matters, investigations, and disciplinary actions with discretion
Key Responsibilities – Accounting & Invoicing Oversight
- Provide oversight of client invoicing for medical billing services to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Manage accounts payable workflows, approvals, and payment schedules
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and billing software vendors
- Prepare management-level reports related to invoicing, revenue, and expenses
- Oversee payroll-related accounting entries
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred
- 4–6 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a healthcare or medical billing environment
- 2 or more years of accounting, invoicing, or accounts payable experience
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA, healthcare billing practices, and compliance requirements
