The Human Resources Representative – Leave of Absence is responsible for administering and managing Morongo Casino Resort & Spa’s leave programs, including medical, disability, and accommodation-related absences. This role serves as a vital liaison between Team Members, healthcare professionals, internal departments, and third-party administrators to ensure timely and accurate leave tracking, documentation, and compliance with applicable regulations. The Representative contributes to a supportive Team Member experience through effective communication and attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates all leave of absence requests and accommodation inquiries, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, personal, and disability-related absences.
- Communicates confidentially with Team Members, healthcare providers, and leadership to guide them through the leave process.
- Reviews documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring timely receipt and processing in accordance with internal policies and legal requirements.
- Tracks leave cases from initiation through return-to-work, maintaining detailed records of leave status, medical updates, treatment plans, and any work restrictions.
- Partners with Payroll to process Paid Time Off and ensure accurate reporting of leave-related payments.
- Provides necessary information to outside agencies regarding disability or state benefit claims.
- Maintains HRIS and leave tracking systems with current leave data, including active, completed, and archived cases.
- Ensures proper file management and documentation for both current and former Team Members.
- Collaborates with leadership and compliance personnel to meet ADA requirements related to workplace accommodations.
- Prepares professional correspondence and reports related to leave and accommodation matters.
- Assists with workers’ compensation claims and facilitates pre-employment and post-incident drug and alcohol testing.
- Provides in-person, phone, and electronic support for general HR and leave-related inquiries.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities but may support or assist other Human Resources team members as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Maintains strict confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other PC-based systems; familiarity with AS400 and Infinium software is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with Team Members and cross-functional partners.
- Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices related to leave and accommodations.
- Displays professionalism, integrity, and empathy in all interactions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or related HR certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with a focus on leave of absence administration.
- Experience managing various types of leaves, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation, and personal leaves.
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment and leave laws required.
- Experience using HRIS systems (e.g., UKG Pro, Oracle, SAP, or similar) preferred.
- Prior experience in a high-volume, customer-focused environment strongly preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS:
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
